An early start: We commence pruning at 9 a.m. In the afternoon I get to distribute manure in a beautiful vineyard I’ve never been in before – right next to Thomas’s shed, more or less, a proper ›clos‹, i.e. a parcel surrounded by a wall (of some kind). When we come back to house Thomas spots a gasoline tank which one of the handymen working the soil in the cellar gave him – just like that. Thomas had mentioned that he was needing one and the man said: »Mais oui, you can have mine, I’ll bring it to you.«
