I actually wanted to drink ›my second Trollinger‹ with Aram. But Aram has a lot to do, family and everything. And me? Me, too! So.

Jochen Beurer equips some of his wines with a screw cap. I have nothing against screw caps, but they are made of aluminum. And aluminium is bad, isn’t it? It is. But compared to (natural) cork? I shall investigate! The wine has a very nice, dark raspberry colour and, after ten minutes in the glass, it smells like it as well. At least I think so. I hand the glass over to Feli who has just been passing by my office. »Raspberry? No. Darker! Blackberry!«. Feli takes a sip. I protest that I haven’t tried it myself yet! »Is that that Trollinger from the winemaker you’re going to visit with your father? Absolutely delicious! Trollinger – delicious if you make it well!« Later I write down: »Slender, lively, lemony, brilliant, like a white from the Loire. Only 11%! Fruit not too pronounced. Have to let Thomas try it!«

Weingut Beurer describes the wine as »P L A Y F U L«, »F R E S H« and »L I V E L Y« – and right they are. The soil is »Untere Bunte Mergel« which might translate as »Lower coloured marl«. Might. Vinification? »Maceration and aging in old oak barrels«. The appellation is »Schwäbischer Landwein«, a quite ›punk-y‹ statement as this is the lowest and most broad classification you can give your wine. It also shows that Jochen Beurer is not too concerned with, well, classifications. The logos are self-explanatory, aren’t they?
