My right hand hurts a bit, so I take care of other things: In the morning I first collect and bundle cut wood and then carry it to the ends of the rows of vines. After lunch: pruning, mostly with the left hand. Thomas is very enthusiastic about my speed, I don’t think I’m that much faster. At the same time, the vines were already pre-pruned by machine, so it goes quicker. Then later, because I prefer to be easy on my hands, I take care of the two lower wire ropes, which are not allowed to lie on the ground, and tie them together with clamps. In the evening we go and visit Anne-Cécile Jadaud and Tanguy Perrault. I represent Anne-Cécile with her red wines, with her husband she releases wines as Domaine Perrault-Jadaud. In their cellar we taste the 2021 vintage, all of which had not yet gone through the malolactic fermentation. Anne-Cécile’s Pineau d’Auni’s »Sergent Pepper« is brilliant. I wake up again at night, this time both hands are tingling from the pruning, the three middle fingers.
