We drive to the first of three trade fairs that are on our list – and it will be the only one we visit today. Blondine Floch has gathered seven winemakers in her »Domaine Le Chat Huant«, a small factory building. The two we like best, along with our friend Marie Rocher, who I already represent, are: Cyrille Sevin from Mont-pres-Chambord, who makes wines within the AOCs Cheverny, Cour-Cheverny and Crémant de Loire, and Ariane Lesne with her »Côteau du Vendômois«. Both speak English, neither of them have anyone in Germany… (I also get to know the very likeable Alexis Hudon, whose wines I have already drunk at otto and bought from Soma Wines. He doesn’t need an agent. His Sauvignon rosé maceration is particularly outstanding.)
Inside Blondine Floch’s factory building
One of Cyrille Sevin’s outstanding sparkling wines – a brut Crémant de Loire. »Non dosé« means that Cyrille didn’t add any sugar after disgorgement
One of Cyrille Sevin’s superb white wines from the Cour-Cheverny appellation – »La Mazodière«, 100% Romorantin (a Chardonnay sibling)
And another one of Cyrille Sevin’s superb white wines, this time from the Cheverny appellation – »La Quadrature du Blanc«, 100% Chenin Blanc
The back of Cyrille Sevin’s business card
»Phylactère«: a Gamay pet nat from Ariane Lesne’s domaine »Côteau du Vendômois«. On the left: her »Grandgousier«, 100% Pineau d’Aunis
